About the role
We’re looking to bring on our first full-time sales hire for newsletter ad sponsorships. So far our sales have been almost entirely inbound (our readers love us) but now it’s time to build an outbound sales function. We’ve seen strong success with our initial outbound approaches, and we believe it’s time to go all in. We’re looking for someone who is ambitious, high agency, and excited by the challenge of building and scaling a sales function.

What you’ll be doing
- Outbound: Prospecting, outreaching and vetting new advertising partners.
- Inbound: Managing the full sales cycle: meeting with decision-makers to understand their campaign, setting KPIs, converting new leads, renewing existing partnerships.
- Handle logistics for accounts: ensure timely payments, share copy with the content team, ensure messaging is aligned with the marketing team.
- Maintain accurate and timely pipeline data, update forecasts, and communicate it to all the key stakeholders at the company.
- Hiring and managing 1-2 associates when it’s time to grow the function.
Requirements
- Applicants must be based in the US, ideally in New York.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in digital media ad sales. Newsletter ad sales experience is a plus.
- Track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas. Ideally sold high 6 figures or 7 figures worth of ad inventory over the course of your career.
- Knowledge and experience of managing a full sales cycle preferred: researching, prospecting, outreach, pitching, negotiating, closing, and renewing deals.
- A deep rolodex of relationships and contacts with advertisers is a plus. Being based out of New York City is also welcome but not necessary.
- Ability to forecast, track and report on sales performance.
